Από το Homostratus μέχρι το We Come Into Life, τα αντικείμενα αποτυγχάνουν να δώσουν μια αντικειμενική θεώρηση του κόσμου.

Αυτή την Κυριακή θα προβληθεί η πλέον πρόσφατη ταινία της Siu Pham, We Come Into Life, όπως και το Fog Over the Summit and Storm Over the Plain. We Come Into Life της Siu Pham

(2021, Vietnam, 82')

A short tribute to a beloved filmmaker, Siu Pham. Some of you may have been on the Kynosagurus Hill about a year and a half ago, and you may have watched the director's wonderful Swallow an Angel then and already have an insight into this wonderful poetic and realistic cinema at the same time. Siu Pham's films are always human, psychographic, with a poetic mood that does not hesitate to observe humanity in its incessant loss, such as the shots of traffic-choked rivers with vehicles on the streets of Vietnam, or the more portrait-like shots that observe people who are called by some fate to separate themselves from the whole and suffer, almost ascetically, to bridge the chaos of this life with the chaos of the loss of another life. Another life that, if not explicitly stated, is certainly hinted at in Siu Pham's cinema. Films that question the objectivity upon which reason wants to enact its labyrinths. From Homostratus to We Come Into Life, objects fail to provide an objective view of the world. A typical example is Siu Pham's use of windows in the cinema, which by changing the scale reverses all the conclusions of vision.

This Sunday, Siu Pham's most recent film, We Come Into Life, will be screened, as well as Fog Over the Summit and Storm Over the Plain. The screening will follow on from our previous screening of Empty Houses Are Ours to Do What We Want, and as such will take place - in the form of a short occupation - in a lovely empty neoclassical building (seating about 40 people) near America Square.
